about aly

Hi, there! I'm Aly Cullinane (CD, B.A.Ed, BRM Pro) and I am so happy you're here! I am passionate about empowering families in the Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia area to experience the birth that they desire. Being a doula is a combination of some of my favorite things: education (teaching & learning), babies, serving others & food. Ok, ok, food has nothing to do with being a doula, but I do love to get down on some grub! I love Jesus, teaching Sunday School, and a good cold brew coffee in the morning. I identify as a scrunchy mama (a blend of crunchy and silky), and admittedly use way too many exclamation marks!!

I am a mom to 3 awesome kids and wife to my high school sweetheart. Our family is rooted in the Tacoma area.  We love to play (or watch my kids play) sports, swim, ski, hike, get competitive in board games and sing karaoke in our living room! We also love to travel-especially to Disneyland!! As someone who has birthed three tiny humans myself, I understand first-hand the importance of going into the labor & delivery process feeling prepared and educated on all of your options.

With my first child, I ended up using almost every intervention. I felt confused of my options, exhausted & defeated-even though I thought I had gone into the delivery room with a great "birth plan". I wish I would have had a doula! With my next pregnancies,  I realized I could make choices and advocate for myself over my birthing experiences. These conscious decisions provided me more empowered labors, delivery processes, and postpartum journeys.

My personal experiences are why it is my mission as your doula for you to feel heard, supported in your beliefs, informed, and most importantly, encouraged along your journey. I strive for you to go into labor with wishes and preferences (not a plan-we cannot plan a birth!), and to give you the emotional support, physical assistance, knowledge, and verbal affirmations you need in the moment to keep you going! One of my favorite quotes sums up the process:

"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can." -Arthur Ashe

It would be an absolute honor to support you. Together, we can doula this! To connect with me via email about a complimentary consultation, click the button below. I look forward to getting to know you!

why doula this?

In high school, I dreamt of being a labor & delivery nurse. I volunteered as a candy striper at our local hospital where I worked in patient care. I went to college and started my major in nursing.

After taking a few courses, I realized I was more interested in the patient care side of nursing. I had a quick crisis...what did I really love? What could fulfill my passion for babies, kids, supporting families and teaching/learning. I pivoted to studying education and human development.

After college, I began volunteering with a local crisis pregnancy center. I taught preschool, elementary school, was a preschool director, and even ran my own pickle company (yes, pickles-I'll make you some!). With these experiences, a few things were clear. Family comes first, I love supporting and educating people, my love for food is real, and I can't get enough of babies!

Initially, I earned my doula certification to attend the birth of my sister's baby-and absolutely fell in love with the process all over again. I have continued my education and am now also a certified Body Ready Method Pro, specializing in body alignment in pregnancy, birth and beyond!

I am so thankful to be able to serve families and help transition their sweet babies into the world! I am passionate about educating and supporting families through their antepartum, birth and postpartum phases.

together, we can doula this!

A doula is a professional labor assistant who provides physical, informational and emotional support to you and your partner during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.

Choosing the right doula is an important step in completing your support team. It is proven that a doula's presence decreases the need for unnecessary intervention and increases the odds of a positive birthing experience. Every birth deserves support. Whether you are planning a home birth, birth center, or hospital birth-I'm there! I serve within a 30 mile radius (or about an hour) of Browns Point, WA. I support medicated, unmedicated and c-section births. Whatever way your birth happens-is beautiful.

You wanna dance your way through labor? I can teach you how to Dougie! Are you looking for calming breathing and positioning techniques? I've got the tools for you!

You and your doula should vibe-that is why I offer a complimentary consultation (video call, phone call or in-person coffee chat). I want you to feel completely confident that we would make a great team in and out of the delivery room.
